Growth Marketer Who Builds
Role brief
Primary outcome
Learn why trials fail to reach their first useful action, then improve that step through measured onboarding experiments.
Core workflow
The onboarding journey from trial signup to the first successful workflow run.
Metric and baseline
Activated trials. The event definition and baseline need to be validated in month one.
Why this role
The job is to improve a defined funnel step through measured experiments and small product work. Ask candidates for a shipped experiment with measurement and a decision made from the result.
Human review and boundaries
Customer-facing messaging, segment definitions and material product claims require human review. Paid acquisition, full content strategy, sales operations and model development remain outside this role.

Reports to: Head of Growth
Location and working arrangement: Remote within Europe
Employment type: Full-time employee (illustrative example)
Team and why this hire
This illustrative workflow software team serves small operations teams through a self-serve trial with sales support. The team can see where trials stall, but ownership for testing the first-use journey is split across growth, product and design. This hire gives one person responsibility for turning that evidence into small, reviewed experiments.
What you will own
- Improve the onboarding journey from trial signup to the first successful workflow run.
- Run focused iterations against activated trials and document the next decision.
- Define inputs, review points, failure handling and handoffs with product, design and analytics partners.
Early success priorities
- Confirm the activation event and baseline, then map one trial segment's onboarding journey.
- Run one reviewed, reversible onboarding experiment and record the quantitative and qualitative limits.
- Iterate, hand off or stop the experiment, then propose a focused next-quarter backlog.
Reporting and collaboration
Report to the Head of Growth. Work weekly with product and design on experiment scope, with the analytics owner on event quality, and with support and sales on feedback and handoffs.
Essential evidence and skills
Evidence of a shipped workflow, experiment or small product surface; experience with web analytics and experimentation tools; clear measurement judgment; and collaboration with product, design and customer-facing teams.
Helpful, not required
Experience with a self-serve B2B software trial or an early-stage team.
AI and building expectations
Use approved AI tools for research synthesis, analysis support, draft variants and small prototypes. Verify sources, outputs and measurement. Human approval is required for customer-facing messages, material claims and segment changes.
Explicit exclusions
Paid acquisition, full content strategy, sales operations, model development and unsupervised production publishing remain outside this role.
Compensation and benefits
Compensation: [Add the approved salary range, currency and pay basis before posting.]
Benefits: [Add approved benefits and eligibility before posting.]
Application and stages
Share one relevant workflow, campaign, experiment or system you shipped and explain the decision that followed. [Add the application route, stage order, interview owners, expected timing and accommodations contact before posting.]
Provisional 90-day plan
A starting plan to finalize with the hire
Days 1 to 30
Map the funnel step, verify the metric and ship one low-risk prototype. Confirm the definition and baseline for activated trials.
Days 31 to 60
Run one measured experiment and document user feedback, limits and the next decision.
Days 61 to 90
Iterate, hand off or stop the experiment and propose a focused next-quarter backlog.
